Geochemical Modeling of Engineered Water Injection in Carbonates Under Harsh Conditions: New Insights With Ionic Adsorption

چکیده

Abstract Carbonates are characterized by low oil recovery due to their positive surface charge and consequent high affinity negatively charged crude oil, rendering them a state of mixed-to-oil wettability. Thus, better understanding the rock/brine/oil interactions effect on potential-determining ions (PDIs) adsorption/desorption during engineered water injection is needed for realistic representative estimations recovery. Therefore, this study reveals novel approach capture various predict PDIs as well concentrations ionic species in effluent using Phreeqc. In work, we determined first time surface-complexation reactions then validated our results with experimental data from literature. Our revealed that presence respective decrease increase pH. Also, found adsorption depends strength activity where calcium remained constant while magnesium sulfate adsorptions varied strength. Moreover, ion was be most sensitive temperature opposed ions. addition, spiking dilution since starts reacting forming complexes. Additionally, deionized resulted highest pH related incremental The case-dependent thus, findings cannot generalized.

Adsorption of a Protein Monolayer via Hydrophobic Interactions Prevents Nanoparticle Aggregation under Harsh Environmental Conditions.

We find that citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles aggregate and precipitate in saline solutions below the NaCl concentration of many bodily fluids and blood plasma. Our experiments indicate that this is due to complexation of the citrate anions with Na+ cations in solution. A dramatically enhanced colloidal stability is achieved when bovine serum albumin is adsorbed to the gold nanoparticle su...

New insights into the chemistry of ionic alkylorganic carbonates: a computational study.

A library of hydrogenated, perfluorinated aliphatic and aromatic (p-substituted) alcohols are selected together with a combination of superbases (SBs) and metal hydrides (MHs) to understand the thermodynamic parameters of the binary mixtures once serving as sorbents for the capture of CO2via ionic organic alkyl-carbonate (RCO3-) formation. Data are obtained using density functional theory (DFT)...

Dielectric properties of water under extreme conditions and transport of carbonates in the deep Earth.

Water is a major component of fluids in the Earth's mantle, where its properties are substantially different from those at ambient conditions. At the pressures and temperatures of the mantle, experiments on aqueous fluids are challenging, and several fundamental properties of water are poorly known; e.g., its dielectric constant has not been measured. This lack of knowledge of water dielectric ...

New geochemical insights into volcanic degassing.

Magma degassing plays a fundamental role in controlling the style of volcanic eruptions. Whether a volcanic eruption is explosive, or effusive, is of crucial importance to approximately 500 million people living in the shadow of hazardous volcanoes worldwide. Studies of how gases exsolve and separate from magma prior to and during eruptions have been given new impetus by the emergence of more a...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
